DESCRIPTION:
APW - Waltham, Railroader, Model 1892, 17J, 18S, gold-filled OF recase, white enamel SS dial, SW-SS, spiral pattern nickel damascene, frosted finish winding wheels, s#7450555. A rare watch, the "Railroader" was made in just a few small production runs and was produced in Model 1888 and Model 1892 versions of which we have one of each in the present auction.
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, fine-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, winding wheels with some oxide spots, plates with typical mild fine to micro-fine scratches, balance jewel setting is missing a screw, mismatched case screws; dial with scattered hls, very small fracture above seconds-register; excellent hour and minute hands, fine seconds-hand with finish loss; case shows very little wear, gouge or ding at lower right perimeter of rear, small ding toward upper left perimeter of rear, excellent engine turning detail, inner surface of case rear is entirely through to brass likely caused by polishing; tight brassy bow, crown shows light wear; good glass crystal.
